This Erasmus Plus planned mobility project is tentatively titled, “Exploring English medium instruction in higher education institutes in Kosovo and Georgia: Whose rights will prevail in an age of globalization?” The funding will be used for the principal investigator to make multiple visits to both Georgia and Kosovo to meet with academics working in internationalization and English medium instruction. As these two regions have experienced recent periods of conflict amounting to destabilization and the rise of nationalism (see Watson 2007, Nelles 2005), by building a cooperation and collaborating with academics there, it is the intention that the planned project will provide a valuable training opportunity to build knowledge about the impact of English medium instruction in high education institutes in such contexts. There will be an exchange of knowledge, in that Jim McKinley from the Bath Department of Education (Bath) will conduct research during his visits, as well as give guest lectures.
