Project Details

Description

The aim of this work is to effectively intervene and disrupt toxic microalgal blooms in regional natural water bodies using hydrodynamic cavitation, thereby restoring affected lakes to safe and usable conditions. This approach accelerates recovery compared to natural remediation processes such as rainfall, which may take significantly longer time to achieve the same outcome. The intervention is particularly important during periods of prolonged hot weather (such as the current heat wave), when public demand for recreational use of natural water bodies is high. However, the presence of harmful algal blooms and their associated toxins can pose significant risks to human and animal health, resulting in limited use of these water bodies by local communities. By proposing a rapid intervention, this work aims to improve public safety and environmental health.
