Research interests
Mr Lin Xu joined the Department in September 2017 as Teaching Fellow in Interpreting/Translating (English-Chinese).
He studied Chinese and English languages at Hainan University, English language and literature at Nanjing Normal University in China and linguistics at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
He taught interpreting and translation at Hainan University in China and Chinese language and literature at University College Cork in Ireland before he joined University of Bath. He has been working as a freelance interpreter and translator since 2001 in China and Europe and he is an experienced conference interpreter (Chinese=English).
He teaches on the Chinese stream of the MA in Interpreting and Translating and MA Translation with Business Interpreting. His main research interests include translation studies, linguistics, and Chinese studies.
