Research interests

Sophia Sarpaki started her studies in the field of Chemistry at the University of Crete, Greece, where she obtained her Bachelor degree in General Chemistry, 2013. At the end of her undergraduate studies, she participated in an Erasmus Placement program. She worked at Synthesis and Physical Chemistry of Biological Molecules Interest Rate laboratory at the Paul Sabatier University of Toulouse, France in a drug design project. Then, she was accepted for a Master in Research program in Drug Discovery and Development: Multidisciplinary Science for Next Generation Therapeutics at Imperial College London, U.K and she carried out her thesis on the synthesis of radiolabelled EGFR kinase inhibitors. At present, she is a PhD student in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Bath. Her current research is focused in the synthesis of multimodal PET SPECT and fluorescence imaging agents towards hypoxia selective inhibitors and is funded by the O2SENSE grand awarded to her supervisor Dr. Sofia I. Pascu from the European Research Council.
