Personal profile
Research interests
I am a Lecturer in Education at University of Bath and Director of Studies for the campus-based MA Education course. I teach postgraduate units on research methodology, assessment and educational futures. I lecture on wellbeing in undergraduate units on childhood and youth and education policy.
My research interests include: educator wellbeing; radical democracy; arts-based methods; participatory and co-creative methods. These interests are inspired in part by my own experiences as a secondary school teacher of English in state institutions between 2003 and 2015. Having grown up in an extended household of critical educators, I am a keen believer in the emancipatory potential of education.
Other research interests include:
- Subject English
- English Literature
- The role of the arts in society
- Poetic Inquiry
- Primary and Secondary Curriculum
- Foucauldian perspectives on schooling
- Deweyan perspectives on schooling
