Personal profile

Research interests

I am a Lecturer in Education at University of Bath and a Lecturer in Community Engagement at University of Bristol. In the Department of Education at Bath, I am Deputy Director of Studies for the MA Education distance learning degree. I teach postgraduate units on research methodology, assessment and educational futures. I teach undergraduate units on educational equality, childhood socialisation and youth transitions.

My doctoral research focuses on the dysbeing and wellbeing of secondary English teachers in England and was inspired in part by my own experiences as a secondary school teacher of English in state institutions between 2003 and 2015.

Having grown up in an extended household of critical educators, I am a keen believer in the emancipatory potential of education. I have interest in, and experience of, play-based and self-directed learning.
