Research interests

My research focus is in applying intelligent /heuristic tools such as Genetic Algorithm, Neural Network and Tabu Search in solving manufacturing/management problems. Successfully used Neural Networks in manufacturing feature recognition which is an essential block in CADCAM integration. Applied a hybrid framework of Genetic Algorithm and Tabu Search to tackle the hard combinatorial problem of Job shop scheduling. Currently exploring the possibilities (in collaboration with colleagues from ‘Crisps’) of using Cellular Manufacturing Techniques (Group Technology Principles) in the layout organization of Supermarkets. Another major project being proposed along with colleagues in ‘Crisps’ is on Evidence Based Purchasing.
