Personal profile

Research interests

I am a materials scientist with a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. My primary focus is on developing and characterising eco-efficient cementitious materials, particularly alkali-activated and hybrid alkali-activated materials, which are sustainable alternatives to Portland cement. My main expertise area is durability assessment in aggressive environments (e.g. chloride exposure, carbonation and leaching), corrosion of steel reinforcement and the influence of microstructure on mechanical and wear performance. I also use advanced characterisation techniques to understand the long-term behaviour of alternative binders. I am currently exploring eco-efficient blended cements: innovations in performance and sustainability. Through this work, I aim to contribute to the advancement of sustainable construction materials that reduce environmental impact without compromising durability and functionality.
