C. Scott Cahill is a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering where he is an instructor in the MArch 5th Year Design Studio. Scott is a Director in ARC-A (www.arc-a.com), a London based architectural consultancy as well as a Director in GL&SS (www.glasslimited.com), an innovative engineering consultancy where he leads the façade engineering team. Previously Scott worked for a London based commercial practice as the Project Director on many large scale projects in the UK, the Middle East and Russia. Prior to working in London Scott was employed by architectural offices in Chicago and Boston.
Scott’s design approach seeks to blend contextual concerns with innovative formal and material solutions and he often employs sophisticated generative modelling techniques where relevant. He uses advanced tools to link complexity of form with the evolving design documentation to enable a seamless exchange of information between the design team and fabricators. He works closely to implement these design projects in collaboration with highly skilled consultant teams.
Scott also has strong interests in exploring the technical resolution of advanced material systems in all of his work and leads the effort within his offices to link zero carbon objectives with forward thinking design considerations.
Scott received his Bachelor of Architecture from Rice University and an MA from the Architectural Association. He is a licensed architect in the United States.
