Teaching interests
I am the Director of Studies for the Advanced Clinical Pharmacy Practice MSc so have a particular interest in education and accreditation pathways for advanced practice in both pharmacy-specific and multiprofessional settings.
I am also the clinical lead for mental health teaching in our undergraduate MPharm degree and our clinical pharmacy postgraduate programmes and I am leading the creation of a national network of academic pharmacists who design and deliver mental health teaching on undergraduate pharmacy programmes. I am interested in understanding more about the how e can develop an effective continuum of learning for this specialism from the start of undergraduate education to postgraduate advanced and consultant level.

I am not currently able to supervise doctoral students.
Research interests
My research interests have primarily developed from my previous clinical role as a specialist mental health pharmacist and are broadly related to psychotropic medicines and shared decision making. My PhD work is investigating patient and practitioner experiences of antidepressant discontinuation in primary care.
I also have research interests linked to my teaching role, in particular the implementation and effectiveness of education and accreditation routes for advanced and consultant level pharmacy practice.
Other responsibilities
I am a UK registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council and retain a bank role as a clinical pharmacist for my local NHS mental health trust and I am also qualified as a non-medical prescriber.
I am the Faculty of Science representative on the Board of Studies for the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences.
I am an external examiner for the pharmacist prescriber programme at Aston University.
I am an active member of several regional, national and international networks including:
- The South West Pharmacy Research Network (SWPRN)
- The College of Mental Health Pharmacy (CMHP)
- The International Institute for Psychiatric Drug Withdrawal (IIPDW)
