Personal profile

Research interests

My research and teaching interests are focussed on the role of responsible business in society. I am particularly interested in Corporate Social Responsbility (CSR) and business ethics in a communications context. More recently, my work has focused on digital-ethics, where I examine themes of activism, online safeguarding and ethical adtech in order to understand how democracy, freedom of expression and justice are shaped in a digital age. I have projects underway that examine humour, emotions, legitimacy and dialogue in a range of consumer and corporate contexts including sustainable fashion, higher education, multinational supply chains, charity branding and advertising. I am a qualitative researcher and I work largely with discourse analysis.

I am Deputy Director for the Centre for Organisations and Society (CBOS) and Director of Studies for the International Management MSc. I am actively involved in the School of Management's campaign for #Research4Good. 

I attend the following conferences: Academy of Management (AoM) (Social Issues in Management track), CSR Communication International Conference, European Group of Organisation Studies (EGOS) and International Association of Business and Society (IABS).
