Research interests

My research is focussed on corporate social responsibility (CSR), most specifically in a communications context. I am interested in the constitutive, or ‘performative’ role of communication and in developing more dialogical understanding of CSR communication. Social media creates new opportunities and challenges for CSR and I am currently exploring how organisational il/legitimacy is negotiated in more transparent, online settings. In doing so, I have developed an active interest in the ethical and methodological concerns that surround interpretive social media research. I also have an interest in the consumer context for CSR communication, most particularly looking at responsible consumption.

Willing to supervise PhD

I welcome enquiries from prospective PhD students who are interested in pursuing a qualitative PhD related to CSR communication, responsible consumption and/or social media marketing.
