PhD Candidate

I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of Education under the supervision of Dr. Michael Donnelly and Professor Hugh Lauder. My research is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and examines how place, mobility and class shape the imagined futures of British youth. Prior to joining the University of Bath in 2016, I completed the MRes programme in social science research methods at the University of East Anglia (2016). I also hold a BA (Hons) degree in English Literature from the University of Lincoln (2013).

During my time at Bath, I undertook a four-month UKRI Policy Internship in 2018 with the government Department for Education in Westminster. I worked in the Department's Strategy Unit researching policy on access to higher education in England and Wales. I also worked part-time as a research asssistant in 2019 for a project led by Dr. Michael Donnelly and colleagues at the University of Bath. This project was initiated by the Social Mobility Commission and resulted in a published report on young people's access to and engagement in extra-curricular activities.
