Personal profile

Research interests

I am interested in studying how research is carried out and disseminated. Among others, my co-authors and I have explored ways to enhance the quality of published research, with a focus on the healthcare context, and examined how academics collaborate with industry and their attitudes towards delivering impact. I am currently interested in ways to make science more accessible, for example, by translating scientific papers from English to other languages and by including patients in scientific teams.

My research has been recognised with awards at DRUID 2025 (with Paola Criscuolo, Ammon Salter, and Judith Deppe) and SMS 2021 (with Chandrika Rathee and Sumeet Malik). My work was also nominated for awards at DRUID 2019, SMS 2019 and the Competitive Dynamics Conference 2021 (with Jan-Michael Ross).

I have collaborated with Cochrane, Innovate UK, and the West of England Academic Health Science Network (now the Health Innovation Network). I am currently starting new collaborations with the British Medical Journal and Taylor & Francis.

Before joining academia, I worked in industry for 7 years, gaining professional experience in business analytics and consulting, with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical industry. I hold a PhD in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Imperial College Business School and an MSc in Industrial Management Engineering (cum laude) from the University of Padova. I serve on the Editorial Review Board of Research Policy and Industry and Innovation.

Teaching interests

I have taught at the postgraduate level across different MScs, such as the Innovation & Technology Management MSc, Entrepreneurship & Management MSc (in person and online offer), and Engineering Business Management MSc. I have also co-designed the Introduction to Innovation in Healthcare MOOC, a FREE four-week course from the University of Bath and the West of England AHSN.
