Profile
Dr Richard Jackson is a Resarch Associate within the Turbomachinery Research Centre.
He graduated with an MEng (hons) in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bath, and has a PhD in experimental aerodynamics from the same institution.
Research
Richard's current research is in the experimental application of flow control methods to reduce the windage within the hub and tip cavities of a low pressure turbine. He also performs experimental research to help further the understanding of buoyancy-induced flow in the compressor cavities of gas turbines.
His areas of interest include:
- Heat transfer and fluid dynamics of rotating disc systems
- Flow control
- Boundary layer ingestion propulsion
- Vortex flows
- Flow visualisation techniques
