Research interests

I study the evolution of parental care in birds and dinosaurs. Many modern birds have unique, derived parental care traits that are unknown in their closest living relatives, the crocodilians. My research uses large amounts of data to track the evolution of these traits through time, to understand what it is that makes bird parental care so unique, and whether this trait may have impacted their survivorship of the end Cretaceous mass extinction.

My first degree was at the University of Reading, where I obtained a BSc in Zoology. I conducted my final-year research project on the evolution of jaw mechanics and feeding apparatus in late Carboniferous/ early Permian tetrapods.
