Personal profile
Research interests
My main research interests are friendship, cross-cultural psychology, wellbeing, and emotion perception. In particular, I have focused on how group-oriented friendship differs cross-culturally by creating and validating the Friendship Habits Questionnaire. I currently investigaitng (1) how group-oriented friendship impacts wellbeing; and (2) how workplace friendship impacts motivation and engagement.
I am also interested in how friendship is related to wellbeing and shared values. I would also be open to hearing about projects relating to interpersonal relationships.
I am currently a Research Associate on a project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) which examines the effects of shared values on young people's pro-environmental behaviour and hope about the future of the planet. I am a member of Social and Cultural Cognition (SCC). I am also collaborating on a project looking at parental attitudes towards cultural diversity in schools.
I have previously worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant on Beyond School Gates, funded by the Nuffield Foundation and BA, looking at children and community integration using social network analysis to see how diverse children's friendships in the classroom and beyond are. I have also worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, funded by the British Academy, looking at cross-group friendships and race talk. Previously, I have looked at how contextual information affects the judgement of emotions.
