Research interests

I conduct comparative research on the influence of the global culture on policies, organizational structures, and practices in secondary schools and universities. I currently study:

  • curriculum reforms (based on imported ideas such as peace education, online learning or student-centered learning),
  • the diffusion of student evaluation of teaching,
  • teaching staff´s working conditions,
  • research cooperation,
  • diversity in educational settings,
  • and leadership in post-bureaucratic contexts.

I specialize in the fields of sociology of education, comparative education, higher education, and organizational studies. My research is influenced by sociological neo-institutionalism and by a decolonial perspective. I am fluent in both quantitative and qualitative methods and have expertise in comparative research.

Before I became an academic, I gained work experience as a human resources manager, as an educational consultant and schoolteacher.
