Personal profile
Research interests
I am a Senior Lecturer in International Education and joined the Department for Education at the University of Bath in September 2017. I am a member of the Internationalisation and Globalisation of Education Research Cluster and my research interests include International and Intercultural Education; International Schools; Internationalisation of Higher Education; Comparative Education. I have worked on numerous funded collaborative research projects in these areas and am currently Principal Investigator on a BAICE-funded project looking at academics’ understandings and experiences of Internationalisation of the Curriculum at three Russell Group Universities. I teach on the MA Internationalisation and Globalisation, the MA Education, and the EdD (Doctor of Education). I supervise students at doctoral level and would like to hear from students interested in pursuing doctoral study in my areas of interest.
Externally, I am Honorary Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Education, University of London, based at the International Centre for Intercultural Studies and convene the BERA SIG Comparative and International Education. I am on the editorial boards of Compare, Intercultural Education, and Research in Comparative and International Education.
Prior to joining Bath, I worked as a Lecturer in Higher Education at Kings College London and as a Lecturer in Education at Durham University. I have held numerous academic appointments across a range of UK universities following completion of my ESRC 1+3 funded doctorate in Education at the University of Oxford in 2009, where I also completed two Masters degrees in Comparative and International Education and in Educational Research Methodology. My doctoral research involved a detailed examination of the EU’s education policy on the European dimension in education and an ethnographic multiple case-study of how three of the elite international ‘European Schools’ (Schola Europaea) are incorporating this policy into their curriculum.
