Personal profile

Research interests

My research interests are centred around improving the understanding and advancement of complex nonlinear mechanical systems, researching fundamental concepts for next generation technology in the fields of robotics, ultra-precision manufacture mechanisms and turbomachinery. My research is multidisciplinary and includes rigorous theoretical work, robust numerical methods and novel experimental techniques.

Specific topics include:

  • Fluid dynamics, thermal effects and fluid structure interaction
  • Modelling systems exhibiting non-linear dynamics
  • Uncertainty quantification
  • Precision control of servomechanisms for applications in robotics and manufacturing
  • Redesigning hand prosthetics and developing adaptive control strategies
  • Novel bearing and seal technologies

Willing to supervise doctoral students

I am available to supervise research degree projects.
