Research interests

Michael is Reader in International Development and Co-Director of the Centre for Development Studies at the University of Bath. He is also a Research Associate at the Oxford Department of International Development and a Senior Research Fellow at the Earth System Governance Project.

He researches global environmental and health governance with a focus on business power and the politics of global supply chains.

Prior to his current position, Michael was Departmental Lecturer in Global Governance at the University of Oxford. He has also taught at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where he completed his PhD in International Relations.
