Personal profile
Research interests
I am Director of Teaching for the Department of Education and Director of Studies for the MA Education and PGCiE. With over 20 years of experience designing, validating, and running programmes of study, both undergraduate and postgraduate, at UK universities and internationally, I have developed a deep expertise in curriculum development, assessment strategies, and the integration of innovative technologies to enhance student learning. My work has focused on creating inclusive and flexible learning environments that promote global educational equity, and I am passionate about fostering academic excellence and shaping future educational leaders.
In addition, I have a strong interest in the evaluation of competences, particularly the subjective dimensions of competences and soft competences, and how these relate to wellbeing. My work often incorporates principles from positive psychology to support students in developing resilience, personal growth, and a holistic approach to learning. With a background in Linguistics and Language Teaching, I also developed a deep expertise in Digital Pedagogy and Technology Enhanced Learning. For the last decade, I have been exploring the use of virtual world environments and virtual reality tools for education, particularly leveraging immersive simulations to foster communities of practice. Through these experiences, I design innovative solutions to challenges in traditional education, creating unique, transformative learning experiences.
