Personal profile

Research interests

I am the Director of Practice Based Learning for the MPharm undergraduate course. I'm responsible for the design and delivery of the practice based elements of the programme and also the development of competence in patient facing skills throughout the course. I liaise closely with employers and our placement providers and also with our regional partners at Health Education South West (HESW). I am also a member of the design team for the new MPharm programme which will start in Sept 2015. I am very interested in the education approaches to support teaching and learning in pharmacy education.

I was previously the programme lead for the pharmacist prescribing programme and have also held the post of programme lead for the clinical diploma course at Bath. I was part of the team providing taught postgraduate courses at the University for over 12 years before moving to my new role on the undergraduate programme. I was also an NHS employee at this time and seconded here as part of my role as SW Education and Training Pharmacist at South West Medicines Information and Training (SWMIT).

I am passionate about developing the skills needed for pharmacists to practice at both foundation and advanced levels. I am keen to develop tools to help support practice based learning and assessment. I currently teach on the final year SimMan 3G unit and also use this equipment to support our postgraduate teaching. I am keen to explore the continued use of simulation and augmented reality in clinical teaching. My other areas of interests include using technology to support learning, assessment of practical and clinical decision making and the development of consultation and prescribing skills in our students.

Fingerprint Fingerprint is based on mining the text of the person's scientific documents to create an index of weighted terms, which defines the key subjects of each individual researcher.
