Research interests

Kostas joined the University of Bath in June 2017, as a PhD candidate in Economics. He has previously held roles as Project Manager and Senior Consultant in market research and management consultancy companies in Greece. He holds a BSc in Statistics and an MSc in Applied Economics and Finance, both from Athens University of Economics and Business.

Kostas' main research interests lie in the area of economics of education and labour market economics. The aim of his PhD project is twofold. First, he explores discrepancies in performance and progression through Higher Education (HE) in the UK between students from different ethnicity backgrounds. In particular, he examines whether ethnic minority groups fare better/worse at different types of HE institutions, in terms of their probability of obtaining a certain degree class and the likelihood of dropping out. Second, his work sheds light on wage differences amongst ethnic groups in the UK labour market and quantifies the contribution of particular employees' characteristics in earnings differential.
