My research is on the interface between the theory and application of Statistics. I have a particular interest in the analysis of data that takes the form of curves or shapes. I want my research to be useful so I have worked on a wide range of statistical applications ranging over astronomy, athletics, cleft lip and palate, concrete, cosmetics, flooding, fungicides, fuel filters, marketing of cars, depression and anxiety, obesity and schizophrenia. I have also served as a consultant to industry on statistical issues.
