Research interests

My work focuses on how the ecology and evolution of birds is shaped by environmental change. I use a combination of genomic, morphological, ecological, geographic, and climatic data, to connect environmental with population-level processes and large-scale patterns of diversification. Previous projects have focused on adaptive radiations of birds on the island of Madagascar, the responses of Antarctic penguins to past climatic shifts, and delimitation of populations and species. My current research centres around understanding how Southern Ocean penguins are currently adapted to their environments, and how projected changes in the environment are likely to impact these populations.
