Personal profile

Research interests

I'm a third-year PhD student interested in the relationships between Repetitive Sensory Motor Behaviours (stimming), sensory processing, anxiety, and autonomic arousal (e.g., heart rate, skin conductance) in autistic people, and the reasons why autistic people engage in RSMBs. My aims are to improve our understanding of how autistic people regulate their inner experiences, and investigate how suppression of these self-regulatory mechanisms may negatively affect autistic people's wellbeing and mental health.

I strongly believe in the inclusion of the autism community throughout autism research. I'm aiming to include Participatory Research Engagement throughout my PhD, and will draw from autistic perspectives to develop my research questions.

I'm interested in autism research generally, with particular interests in sensory perceptual aspects of autism and RSMBs in autism.
