Personal profile

Research interests

I am a Research Associate in the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering at the University of Bath, UK. I received the BEng (2017) and MSc (2020) in Electrical Engineering from Northeast Electric Power University, Jilin, China, and the PhD (2024) in Electrical Engineering from Aalborg University, Denmark, supervised by Prof Zhe Chen (FIEEE) who is an expert in wind power technology.

I have developed cross-sector collaborations through academic placements and industry secondments.  I was a visiting student at Cardiff University, a guest PhD student at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and Technical University of Denmark. From 2022 to 2025, I served as a Doctoral Researcher on the European DEMO (DEMOstration Nuclear Fusion Power Plant) project under the EUROfusion Consortium within the Horizon Europe. I have established active collaborations with universities in the Netherlands, Australia, China, and the US.

Thanks to the structured EU training programme, I have established solid skills and technical know-how in advanced DC power conversion, DC microgrids, and DC protection technologies. My PhD research focused on the design and control of multilevel multiport DC/DC converters for medium-voltage and low-voltage DC systems, as well as DC protection for superconducting coils in fusion power plants.

At UBAH, I am working with my line managers, Prof Xiaoze Pei and Dr Xianwu Zeng (Reader), to develop high-performance cryogenically cooled DC/DC converters based on wide-bandgap semiconductors. We are collaborating closely with Airbus to develop such exciting technologies for future all-electric aircraft powered by liquid hydrogen. Our goal is to contribute to the decarbonisation of future aerospace industry. My research interests also include AC and DC microgrids, MMC, SST, FACTS, etc.

I have published more than 15 journal papers and received several international recognitions, including the 2024 CIGRE Denmark NGN Showcase Award and the 2024 Best Reviewer Award from the CSEE Journal of Power & Energy Systems (CSEE JPES). I also serve as a reviewer for many IEEE Trans.  journals. I am an active member in professional societies including IEEE and CIGRE. I am a member of the publicity team for the IEEE ECCE 2026 Organizing Committee and will organise the CIGRE Paris 2026 NGN Forum.
