Research interests

Hanwen joined Bath as an Assistant Professor in Finance in Sep 2018. Before that, she held a lecturership at the University of Essex. Hanwen’s research interests mainly lie in the areas of corporate finance and corporate governance, with a special focus on the topics of insider trading, short selling, institutional investors, corporate innovation, and ESG issues. Her work has been published in a range of peer-reviewed ABS 4/3 journals, such as Journal of Corporate Finance and Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money. Her research project has been funded by the British Academy, as the principle investigator.  


Teaching interests

Hanwen is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has a wide range of teaching interests including  Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Empirical Finance, and Research Method. She has taught various modules across undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive levels both in the U.K. and China. She is also actively supervising Ph.D. students with research interests in the corporate finance area.
