Research interests

I am a social scientist with a particular interest in health. Broadly, my research is concerned with how society shapes our health through our institutions, our culture and the people around us.

My work is largely informed by concepts and theories derived from sociology although I am proactive in engaging with researchers across different disciplines in order to address pertinent research topics. As such, I carry out research with academics and practitioners in the fields of medicine, education, psychology, sport and exercise, social marketing and behavioural science.

I have specialist knowledge in qualitative research, having utilised a range of ethnographic, discursive and visual methods in the past. I am also interested in methodological innovation, tackling issues related to analytical frameworks and the philosophical principles that inform how research is conceived of and produced.

I am keen to engage with and collaborate with others so please get in touch if you are interested in my previous work or would like to discuss potential future projects.
