Research interests

Dr Dickinson is interested in photosensitised reactions leading to DNA damage, and in spectroscopic methods of detection of DNA damage. In her work she uses a large number of steady state and time dependent spectroscopic techniques in order to elucidate the mechanisms of photosensitised DNA damage and to characterise intermediates in the reactions.

She also has an interest in developing and enhancing teaching within the chemistry department. This includes trying to improve the provision of mathematical skills for chemists as well as developing undergraduate laboratory experiments that bring together a number of the branches of chemistry.
