Enrico Cecconi is Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor).

He is Section Convenor and Language Co-ordinator in Italian in PoLIS.

He is also Admission Tutor for the Modern Languages Programme and Director of Outreach for Languages.

He joined the Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies in September 2014. 

He graduated from the University of Pisa in 2004 with a BA in Modern Languages and Linguistics. He went on to complete an MA in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language at Ca’Foscari University in Venice in 2012.
In 2013 he achieved the recognition for a course of high quality in Cross-cultural Communication within LabCom (Laboratorio di Comunicazione interculturale e didattica) at Ca’ Foscari.

He has been recently awarded the prize in Innovation in Learning and Teaching at the University of Bath (May 2023). Enrico Cecconi teaching methods have transformed the language learning experience of his students, integrating drama methods and theatre improvisation activities into his pedagogy has resulted in authentic communication between the students in the target language, improving student learning experience, confidence and motivation. 


In June 2015 he was awarded a certificate of achievement in recognition of outstanding research presentation at the Annual Multidisciplinary Conference “Convitto della Calza” (Firenze) presenting a project on connected learning in an International Education Program together with two colleagues from Elon University (North Carolina).

He is involved in the design, coordination and delivery of Italian language programmes and he is responsible for the management and development of the Italian language team within PoLIS.

Prior to be appointed Language Co-ordinator, he taught international students for over ten years. He worked for the University of Cardiff, New York University and other American programs in Florence.

He is a registered Fellow of the HEA. He also works as a teacher trainer, being involved in workshops in Italy and abroad and contributing to share and disseminate knowledge of language pedagogy. He collaborates with Laboratorio Interculturale di Venezia, serving as a resource for LabCom.
