Personal profile
Research interests
Emily Johnstone is a doctoral researcher applying her background in psychology to investigate the interplay between human behaviour and digital technology in the context of intimate partner violence. Her PhD takes a multi-perspective approach to investigate how digital technologies in the home can extend and exacerbate harm.
Through collaborations with third-sector organisations and industry partners, her research incorporates an understanding of new and emerging technologies to develop recommendations for mitigating risks. One ongoing project, in partnership with local community organisations, involves developing community technology clinics to support at-risk individuals to navigate digital privacy, safety, and security issues. She welcomes opportunities for further collaboration.
