Dr Elena Minelli joined the Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies in September 2012 as Language Co-ordinator for Italian.
After obtaining a BA (Hons) and MA in Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of Bergamo (Italy), she completed an MEd in Psychology of Education at Bristol University followed by a transfer exam accredited by the British Psychology Society. In 2006, she received a PhD in Gender and Translation Studies from the University of Bath.
Dr Minelli is responsible for the coordination and delivery of the Italian language programme in collaboration with colleagues of the Italian Team. She also lectures in Translation and Gender Studies for final year units and the MA in Translation.
In 2013, she was accredited the Senior Fellowship of AdvanceHE (SFHEA). Since then, she has been an Advisor, a Reviewer and the Departmental Champion for the Pathways to Fellowships, Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT), University of Bath.
Since 2006, she has also been working for the Open University as an Associate Lecturer in Italian and Access modules in Psychology and Sociology.
Research interests
Dr Minelli's main research interests are in the areas of Translation Studies and Language and Gender. Recently, she has carried out substantial work in the Decolonisation of the Italian curriculum, particulalry in relation to the Afro-Italian community (EDI).
