Research interests
I am fascinated by how light interacts with matter and enjoy the beauty and power of physics. I spend my research time trying to find order in complex equations and obscure data sets. My research focus is on physics of ultrashort pulses, multi-mode complexity and frequency conversion in nonlinear photonic devices, e.g., in microresonators, waveguides, optical fibres, and semiconductors. Solitons in optics have been my particular topic of interest. If you google my research papers you will frequently meet such scientific terms as polaritons, supercontinuum, frequency combs, vortices, photonic crystals, etc. My primary affiliation is with the Department of Physics in Bath. I like building research connections with colleagues around the World.
