Research interests

I'm a vertebrate palaeontologist focused on deciphering major evolutionary patterns in living and fossil birds (and often other groups of vertebrates). Research in my group draws on fossil, anatomical, and molecular data in order to understand the origins of modern vertebrate biodiversity, and the origins of important biological features such as feathers and flight. For more information, please see my lab's webpage at danieljfield.com.
