Research interests

My research interests are in using periodic gold nanostructures to enhance optical responses of molecules. Metallic nanostructures can lead to strong localized electric fields at the dielectric-metal interface. Additionally, I study chiral materials, which are objects which cannot be superimposed with their mirror images. Chiral objects interact differently with left- and right-circularly polarized ligth. I try to exploit this phenomenon to study the far-field behaviour of chiral, achiral and racemic (i.e. a mix of equal amount of a chiral object and its mirror image) nanogratings. Currently, I am working on exploiting this far-field behaviour for enhanced molecular chiral sensing.
