Personal profile

Research interests

My current research interests focus on catalyst design and reactor engineering.

  • Catalyst design: the development of new catalysts that can be applied for energy production, wastewater treatment, microplastic removal and fine chemical synthesis. Through understanding the mechanisms that govern reaction selectivity and conversion, I aim to pinpoint the characteristics of cutting-edge catalysts that deliver exceptional performance across various reactions, including pyrolysis, electroreduction, electrolysis, hydrogenation, or redox photocatalysis.
  • Reactor engineering: the design and testing of novel reactor configurations. My research objective is to develop and manufacture reactors capable of enhancing the overall efficiency of industrial processes. This involves integration with appropriate catalysts and maintaining a keen understanding of their techno-economic viability.

Willing to supervise doctoral students

I welcome students with a Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering background or similar. In particular those keen on applying catalysis and reaction engineering ideas in green processes.

Teaching interests

I enjoy implementing innovative teaching methodologies to impart knowledge on chemical reaction engineering concepts. This includes the in-depth study of heterogeneous catalysis and reactor design, where I strive to create an intellectually stimulating learning environment.

Other responsibilities

I am the Director of Studies for Year 1 and Year 2 undergraduates.
