Personal profile

Research interests

I am the Director of Studies for the taught postgraduate programmes in Pharmacy, providing support and stewardship to CPD programmes aimed at early-years and mid-career pharmacists.

I am an expert practitioner in open, distance and online learning and have been working in this area for over 25 years (the last 10 years based in pharmacy and health). As well as designing well over 20 study guides in pharmacy, health and related topics, I also support new academic staff to develop their teaching practice (via the Bath Programme) and convene and teach units on learning and teaching, and open and distance learning. I am interested in the teaching of ethics in research and have developed two web based resources to support novice researchers to develop their awareness of this subject.

My scholarship and research interests lie in technology-mediated learning and teaching, teaching research ethics, the role and effects of professional doctorates and the use of Design Research to underpin educational evaluations. I have recently completed commissions for the UK Cochrane Centre and South West Medicines Information and Training to set up virtual learning environments to support their learning programmes.

Fingerprint Fingerprint is based on mining the text of the person's scientific documents to create an index of weighted terms, which defines the key subjects of each individual researcher.
