Research interests

Although it is not limited to the following topics, I am investigating English as Medium of Instruction (EMI), English as a Lingua Franca (ELF), teacher and learner identity, characteristics of good language learners, and issues related to instructed SLA such as input processing.

Willing to supervise doctoral students

I can supervise research projects which

a) investigate the use of English in real contexts including speakers from diverse linguistic backgrounds (e.g. ELF) or lecturers and students from different academic majors (e.g. EMI). 

b) concentrate on individual language learner differences from the Complexity Systems perspectives

c) focus on the use of corpora or Data-driven learning when teaching vocabulary, grammar and writing

d) compare any effects of processing instruction and production-based instruction on the acquisition of morphologically and syntactically difficult grammatical structures in L2

e) investigate the issues regarding language learning skills especially reading and writing in L2
