We carry out basic and applied research at the frontiers of engineering and science. Our work includes strong interdisciplinary connections to basic science and mathematics. Our research is funded by UK research councils, the EU and industry.

Our academic staff, research fellows, post-doctoral researchers and postgraduate students carry out internationally significant work and publish in a number of journals.

Because our teaching is research-led, undergraduates learn about the latest findings. Many of them also have the chance to work with our research centres.
