The Bath Centre for Mindfulness and Compassion (BCMC) is a unique partnership between academic researchers and Student Services, working closely with the Student’s Union, local NHS and community leaders. The BCMC serves to make the university and region a healthier, more mindful and compassionate community within which to live, study and work.
We aim to do this through sector-leading research and practical, co-created programmes that enhance the wellbeing and productivity of students and staff while contributing to the prevention of mental ill health. So far, the BCMC has conducted pioneering research establishing mindfulness for asthma, body image, eating disorders, persistent depression, psychosis and tinnitus, with over £1.6 million in competitive grants, and 30+ peer reviewed publications.
