Data for the paper, "Next-generation in vitro liver model design: combining a permeable polystyrene membrane with a transdifferentiated cell line." The dataset contains size measurements of the salt crystals used; thermogravimetric analyses of the membranes; mechanical properties of the flat sheet membranes; contact angle measurements used to determine membrane hydrophobicity; pore size distribution in the flat sheet membranes; hollow fibre dimensions deduced from scanning electron microscopy images; measurements of nitrogen and water permeation through the hollow fibre membranes; viability counts of B13 cells; and quantities of serum albumin secreted by the B13 cells over a period of 24 hours, relative to the mass of total protein.
