A survey of more than two thousand parents in the U.S., published last year in the open-access journal of the American Sociological Association, introduced the term "gendered cognitive stickiness" to describe how women in heterosexual partnerships are often reflexively assigned to the "'thinking work' required to anticipate and monitor household needs."
