Serving as a reviewer of scientific proposals for the Nazarbayev University Research Council in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Nazarbayev University has partnered with several universities around the world (most significantly Duke University, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Wisconsin, and University College London) to model the highest standards for an academic and research institution. As part of this vision, they approached Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) to manage an independent scientific peer review process that adheres to international standards for peer review. Potential funding schemes for these researchers fall under two categories: Faculty-Development Competitive Research Grants Program (FDCRGP) and Collaborative Research Program (CRP). ORAU sent me 3 proposals in my area of expertise to review. All review were completed online using ORAU’s web-based peer review system, PeerNet.
