Launch of Special Issue of Frontiers in Psychology: English Medium Instruction in the Middle East and North Africa

Launch event for the Frontiers in Psychology Research Topic, English Medium Instruction in the Middle East and North Africa, co-edited by Tariq Elyas, Cihat Atar, Samantha Curle and Abu Saleh Mohammad Rafi.

The virtual event brought together the Research Topic editors, contributing authors and invited discussant Professor Yasemin Bayyurt to discuss English Medium Instruction (EMI) in the Middle East and North Africa. The Research Topic examines the development and implementation of EMI across MENA higher education, including issues relating to policy, classroom practice, multilingualism, Englishisation, translanguaging and the wider social and educational forces shaping EMI.

The collection brought together empirical research addressing current knowledge, policies and practices of EMI in the region, with the aim of contributing evidence that can inform future research, policy and educational practice.
