Activity: Public, Community and School Engagement › Public talk, lecture, debate, seminar, workshop
Description
This public engagement talk, building on two prior sessions, will explore how two communication games, namely the Playful Silence Game and the Chatty Classroom Competition, have the potential to enhance learners’ readiness to communicate. Alongside the Chatty Classroom Competition, this session will introduce a new Playful Silence Game, in which participants are asked not to engage while normal discussions and activities take place. This game intends to spark conversation about how it feels to refrain from participating, especially when this is made conscious and explicit. Together with the Chatty Classroom Competition, poker chips will be used to peer/self-evaluate the participation of attendees.
This session is part of the public engagement series, titled 'Catalysts for Change: Empowering Qualitative Doctoral Research through Public Engagement,' funded by the Student Change Fund.
