Exploring AI Priorities in a Public Sector Context

In this case study, we explore how public sector organisations can clarify their priorities when considering emerging technologies such as AI. As interest in AI grows across government and public services, organisations face an important question: which outcomes should guide investment and decision-making? Through a workshop with the UK Environment Agency, the Metric Tool was used to help participants evaluate and prioritise different performance metrics associated with AI adoption. The exercise revealed differing perspectives across teams and provided a structured way to surface these priorities, enabling more transparent and evidence-informed discussions about digital transformation.
