Description
I am leading the Departmental Seminar Series.
The main objective of the Departmental Seminar Series is to provide flagship externally facing events for the Department. We aim to invite seminar speakers whose research is interesting, exciting and significant (if it is pushing the boundaries in their field all the better). This research should align with the work we are doing in the department so that seminars will appeal to departmental colleagues and students, and potentially, academic colleagues across the university, and a wider audience. We will aim to have one seminar per year with a speaker from the local community to help us push on with our strategic aims of public engagement and building civic partnerships. In these ways, we want to use the Departmental Seminar Series to raise our Departmental profile internally and externally and offer scope for dialogue and debate.
