David Parkin visiting fellowship: Prof. Hans Hansson

Activity: Knowledge Exchange (Industry, Government, NGOs) › Hosting a visitor

Description

In Semester 2 of 2024/25, I hosted Prof. Hans Hansson (Stockholm University; member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and former member of the Nobel Committee for Physics) as a David Parkin Visiting Professor.

Research collaboration activities: We are finalising a research project on the nonlinear quantum Hall effect involving two of my PhD students. We are also developing several follow-on projects.

In parallel to research activities:

-- I coordinated a five-session crash course in QFT taught by Prof. Hans Hansson, open to all (UG, PhD, and staff). The course materials (lecture notes and recorded videos) are available on the QFT-course webpage. This course served as an introduction to the official QFT unit scheduled to begin in the 2026/27 academic year, in which I will also be involved in teaching.

-- Prof. Hansson delivered a colloquium seminar as part of David Parkin visiting professorship program and delivered a more technical seminar in the CMQM group.
