The *Comité Científico Internacional is hosted by the Chilean Ministry of Education, Subsecretaría de Educación Superior and the DEMRE* (Departamento de Evaluación, Medición y Registro Educacional) at the Universidad de Chile. It was established to monitor and propose improvements to the university admissions system in Chile. This committee, consisting of five experts—three international and two Chilean researchers—has the mandate to oversee recent changes in the admissions system and provide recommendations aimed at ensuring fairness, validity, and transparency in the evaluation processes.

The international members include:
- **Therese Hopfenbeck** from Australia, an expert in educational assessment.
- **Derek Briggs** from the USA, a professor specialising in research methods and educational measurement.
- **Prof Andrés Sandoval-Hernández** from the UK, known for his work in education at the University of Bath.

The Chilean members include:
- **Salomé Martínez**, a professor at the University of Chile with expertise in mathematical modelling.
- **Diego Carrasco**, an academic at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

This committee plays a critical role in reviewing the standardised tests used in the admissions process, ensuring they align with educational values and provide equitable access to higher education, considering the diverse contexts of applicants. The group also aims to address ethical concerns, particularly in areas such as data protection and equity, which are essential for maintaining the system's legitimacy【7†source】【8†source】【9†source】.
